I've been with Glam Girl for a year now and WOW is all I can say. I love this team so much! I started competing in 2019 and was with a different, local coach. After doing two shows, I knew I wanted to keep going and up my game, and that I needed more from a coach than I was getting. After listening to Glam Girl's Prep Life Podcast for a while, I had a hunch that Amy's philosophy and approach would be a great fit. From the get-go, it's been fantastic. When you apply for the team, you fill out a detailed form and have a consultation call--so you're basically doing a two-way interview so both you and the coach can see if you're a good fit. Next, the Glam Girl approach is that of a "unicorn" prep, which has a few meanings, one of which is that we're all unique. There are no cookie-cutter approaches, so your program is tailored to your specific needs and goals, and to your life. I get a new weightlifting/cardio program and meal plan once a month and have weekly 30-minute calls with my coach in addition to weekly check-ins so that things can be adjusted as needed. Check-ins are illustrative of Glam Girl's approach, which is to do a long prep that's really sustainable--no 12-week crash for one day on stage here; it's really a prep lifestyle. Amy wants to stay on top of not just your measurements and weight, but energy and hunger levels, mental state, hormones (thanks to my coaches, I got my levels checked and was able to address deficiencies), fiber intake, sleep...everything! Amy also knows her area(s) of expertise and encourages athletes to work with other professionals (doctors, mental health professionals, etc.) on areas that are outside her scope of practice, while working in tandem with those efforts. Glam Girl also makes sure that the athletes are taken care of start to finish on show day, especially for team shows--several shows a year, teammates are all encouraged to do a show together, and for those, the coaches are there backstage, and Amy brings in a hair and makeup artist so that we're taken care of top to bottom. Also, there's a group chat that allows for daily communication with teammates all along the prep way. It's been an incredible way to connect with others through the ups and downs and to cheer each other along (and to share recipes, victories, etc.). I'm eagerly starting the new year with Glam Girl again and can't wait to chase my new goals with these amazing ladies. The team has truly helped me get healthier and stronger mentally and physically than I've been in YEARS.
